While organizing and repackaging boxes, we were shocked by the apathy and insensitive disregard of some people who passed off items like dirty underwear, tattered, damaged, filthy clothing as donations, and clothing too scant to keep people shivering in the snow warm. There is very limited space on the plane, and the entire packaging and shipping process is a lengthy and costly one, so please, only send the aforementioned items. All else will be returned to you. **Drop-off Location Information:** In the event you are unable to make it to the INTER GLOBAL SYSTEMS WAREHOUSE on the said date, please contact the following people to drop off or mail items to their address: NOTE: ALL BOXES HAVE BEEN MOVED OUT OF ADAMS
CENTER. ADAMS IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING DONATIONS.

PLEASE BE PATIENT WHEN DONATING ON 10/22, AND EXPECT
TO WAIT WHILE COMPLETING THE DONATION PROCESS. WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT TENTS
AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES AT THIS TIME. The remaining previously mentioned
items may be accepted in upcoming shipments. Check back on Tuesday 10/25
for an UPDATE on this process. HELP NEEDED AT THE WAREHOUSE ON 10/22.
*** 10/18/05 | URGENT HELP is needed
at the Adams Center collecting donations!!! Please read the following
update from Farah Chohan: "Today I went to ADAMS CENTER! I am
overwhelmed! WE NEED HELP! PLEASE, if you can donate just your time
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday evenings and Saturday, it will be helpful. It
was just a handful of us who went through boxes and had to throw half the
items away into the REJECTIONS pile. And this is just a quarter of the
boxes and bags we went through. It took us about 3 and half hours because
people are cleaning out their closets and we have said over a hundred of
times no CLOTHES, NO FOOD ITEMS; but yet we are receiving bags of, sorry
to say, old used underwear, ripped jeans, stained t-shirts. Would people
put these things on their own kids? I am so disturbed with what I saw
today. If I started to list what we got, you would be amazed. Now WE ARE
NOT TAKING ANTHING EXCEPT FOR [THE SAID EMERGENCY ITEMS]. ADAMS, PIA and I
will refuse anything else that comes. We are getting a warehouse Friday
morning to transfer some items. Please, donate your time these coming
evenings and if you or someone you know is available this Friday morning,
please email me or call me. Also, we need people on Saturday. We are
expecting hundreds of people on Saturday that are planning on dropping off
items. Many items have been boxed, but many
still have to be boxed and taped. I urge you to take time out and help.
Take this as a plea for help! May Allah reward you for your good deeds in
this blessed month! Bring scissors, tapes, markers! We are also receiving
Police help to coordinate traffic." *** 10/19/05 | Update from Yasmeen
Ahmed: Excerpt from Dawn
article: "Meanwhile, Major General Farooq
Ahmad Khan made a desperate international appeal for tetanus medicine,
saying that Pakistan needed at least 100,000 doses as soon as
possible. 'We have an urgent need for
anti-tetanus globalin to treat victims who have developed tetanus
disease,' General Khan told a news conference. 'There are many injured whose wounds
have now been infected,' he said. 'We need a maximum number of
anti-tetanus globalin. We request everyone abroad to fly this as soon as
possible... This medicine must be flown in a quantity of 100,000 as soon
as possible.' " AFP |
